Born in Northallerton in 1967, Wendyhas spent most of her life working and living in North Yorkshire and the North East. Wendy was educated at The Wensleydale Comprehensive School, Leyburn and more recently combined work with studying to successfully complete an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) with The Open University.
Wendy spent her early career in HM Diplomatic Service, before moving into the private sector to work in sales and marketing within the optical industry. When her husband David left the Royal Navy in 1990 they set up their own electronics and manufacturing business.
Wendy lives in North Shields and her personal interests include running, having completed the Great North Run twice for north east charities, as well as cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Wendy Morton's Experience
Wendy's entry into politics began in 2001 when she successfully first stood for election as a District Councillor, achieving a 6.9% swing for the Conservatives in a by-election. In 2005 she was the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate in Newcastle Central, standing against Jim Cousins MP.
