Leslie Miller to stand for Monkseaton North Ward

Councillor Leslie Miller is standing for re-election on May 6th.

Leslie has lived in North Tyneside all his life, was educated locally and is now Deputy Practice Manager of a Monkseaton based GP surgery.

At 27 he is the youngest member of North Tyneside Council and became actively involved in politics in 2006 helping in the local elections. In his spare time he has a keen interest in walking in the countryside, photography and keeping fit at the local gym.

Leslie has campaigned for value for money, environmental improvements, the regeneration of the town centres, health provisions and is extremely passionate about local issues. Since November 2009 he has been Cabinet Member for Adult Services holding an executive position on the Council for health and wellbeing.

Leslie comments “I have enjoyed serving as your councillor for the past two years and look forward to continuing to work and support Linda Arkley as Mayor. I would hope you give me the opportunity to continue the hard work on May 6th

Linda Arkley comments:

“These local elections are critically important for the future direction of the council. For the first time since North Tyneside was formed in 1974 we have a majority with 31 Conservative Councillors.

I need to retain that majority in the council chamber to allow me to take forward the priorities that you elected me to carry out, but crucially to stop Labour from blocking our progress. To make sure Labour do not take us back, please vote for Leslie to help me continue the work I started last year”
